Dance Central is an award-winning music and dance video game for the Xbox 360 that implements the Kinect motion peripheral. The game was developed by Harmonix Music Systems, creators of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises. It has sold 2.5 million copies worldwide.
The game features 13 characters of different nationalities, each with a distinct, regional accent. Each character required several rounds of auditions from actors nation-wide. Voiceover recording took place over the span of several weeks in studios across the United States. Character and storyline development was directed at each recording session in cooperation with copywriters, animators, and game developers.
